In 2008, April 5, this Church was established not by the human understanding, nor by the intellect of some theologians but by the spirit of the Lord when Missionary Evangelist Mrs. Aleno Peseyie and Mr. Silvanus Bhandari was led and driven by Church planting concept from God. They were newly wedded and convinced and convicted by the scripture to plant Church in Kathmandu valley. They did constant consultation with the Nepal Baptist Church Council and local Regional Baptist Association. Rev. Ratna Rai, NBCC General Secretary (President at present) and other leaders such as Rev. James Rai, Mission Director (General Secretary at present), Ps. Rajendra Malla, Regional President were helped this family to move ahead in Church Planting Ministry in Kathmandud Metropolitan city.

The first service of Kathmandu Valley Baptist Church (hereafter KVCC) was taken place at Mr./Mrs. Silvanus Bhandari’s living room in Bagdol where Rev. Ratna Rai was presented and had led in prayers for this new Church. Later, it moved to Bhatbhateni and was declared as full functional Church on 4 June 2011.

Kathmandu is the city full of Idols and its worshipers and this need to be addressed with the good news of Christ. Therefore, having this mindset, they both had initiated to establish the Church, actually expanding what Christ had already done.

Ever since that period, KVCC has been following the ministry modality of Christ – preaching, teaching, looking after the needy ones, planting the Church – ultimately training, equipping and building his saints for the expansion of His kingdom.

Ministry Expansion

Besides of having ministry in Kathmandu, KVCC decided to expand its mission field in Far West Nepal. In 2010, Mrs. Aleno, Mr. Kumar Bardewa and Mr. Vishal Thapa made field visit and survey in Dadheldhura and Kailali. Then fellowship was started in 2011. It also put lots of investment in rasing Mr. Sagar as a Leader within from that same community. Unfortunately, we didn’t go as expected and there is still need of a dedicated leader. In 2012, KVCC had sent Ps. Man Kumar Rai and his family as native missionaries to serve in Far West Nepal and but they chose Attariyah as a strategic location for him to be based on and to plant a Church and to expand in other district. Now, He is doing fruitful ministry in coordination with KVCC

In 2014, KVCC had send Mr. RC Silvanus and his family as oversea missionaries to serve our LORD among Nepali speaking communities in United States of America. They are now based in New York City and have already started Church plant ministry.

Though KVCC is a small congregation, God has blessed this church to be a missional Church to reach out to the lost both within Nepal and oversea.
